Er, wow. That’s our initial reaction of the new 2013 Kawasaki Z800. The middleweight machine from Kawasaki has had a major revamp and boasts a new beefy motor to compete against its rivals.
It looks a stunning machine with Kawasaki’s designers having a free rein over the new bike’s looks. There are some neat features within, notably the Zed rear light and fancy seat. It looks proper aggressive, whichever way you look at it, and that new snout looks fantastic – although the jury is out on the new dials…
The new motor is a bored version from the Z750. With a new top end to accompany the big bore, the machine should boast more power in the low a midrange.
The serpent style headers also should weigh bias towards this area. The stubby matt exhaust looks as if it’s come straight off the ZX-10R, and the family look here is clear to see.
Chassis changes are minimal, with only small detail changes and a slightly longer swingarm differentiating this from the 750’s. Forks are rebound and preload adjustable, while the shock is preload adjustable only. Brake discs are 10m bigger at the pointy end and there are accessories galore.
