If you’ve always wanted a genuine piece of TT memorabilia then now is the chance to get bidding in an online auction.
The iconic orange direction signs, blue mile markers, official podium backdrops and classic Shell fuel fillers, used until the mid-1980s, will be among the lots up for grabs in the Isle of Man Government Department of Economic Development auction. The orange directional signs from around the course are being replaced ahead of this year’s races, meaning the old signs are available for collectors, and to generate income for continuing investment in the TT.
The first collectable, the Ballaugh Bridge directional sign, is online now, and more memorabilia will be added in the coming weeks. All profits from the sales will be invested back into the running of the event. Every one of the name boards is steeped in TT history and tells the story of dramatic action, triumph, heartbreak, skill and bravery. The mile markers, indicating each of the 37 miles on the TT course will also be placed up for auction, along with some of the most recent official podium backdrops and the instantly recognisable classic Shell fuel fillers. More collectable memorabilia will be placed up for auction over the coming months.
