Of course the biggie this weekend is World Superbikes from Donington Park, with a whole host of British riders in the frame for wins. Six races have been won by Brits so far this year, and they’re littering the top six of the championship. Anyone remember Donny last year? If we get even close to both of those incredible races, we’re all in for a treat.
Race day tickets are about £40, a good score and more cheaper than the MotoGP event at Silverstone, and at Donington you’re also closer to the action. And in WSB, you’re not shut out of cool areas like the paddock a la MotoGP, the riders and teams are all accessible, and nearly to a man friendly and always full of smiles. That’s only partly why we adore WSB, the fact the racing is the best in the world is yet another bonus.
So get along there if you can and support Tom Sykes, Eugene Laverty, Jonny Rea, Leon Camier among many others, and of course our own Chaz Davies. A Brit could easily win it this year, the more support they have, the more likely it is of happening. Plus it looks like it may be sunny, so it’ll be a great day out.
If, on the other hand, you prefer to watch men with giant noses jump over mountains, our own Andrew ‘Beaky’ Saunders will be racing at Cadwell Park in the Thundersport series. Plenty of action in the various classes to behold there will be to admire, or just go and give Andy a cheer.
There’s a trackday on at Anglesey today (Friday), one on Saturday at Lydden and another on Sunday at Rockingham, details of which can be found here.
As for shows, there’s the Southern Classic Bike Show & Jumble on Saturday, details here
Otherwise, with the weather not looking quite as bad as originally predicted (though this could change, granted), what better time to get out on your bike, solo or with your mates?
Have a great weekend, y’all!
