Yamaha Prototypes

We’re not treated to such luxuries at the NEC, but the Tokyo show tends to (understandably) encourage concepts and prototypes from Japanese manufacturers. Yamaha unveiled the R25: a 250cc, twin-cylinder, four-stoke with an obvious slant towards the M1 with race-inspired aesthetics, although that’s where the similarities end. In a world full of dull, very budget learner bikes, the R25 (like KTM’s Duke fam) should ignite more interest.

The BOLT Café (pictured below) looks very similar to Guzzi’s V7 Racer and that’s no bad thing. Packing an old-school 950cc v-twin motor into a slim and compact chassis, the prototype looks more like a stylish, quality home-build. Let’s hope we see this on the production line.
