Looking forwards to the full review in issue 337 (on sale Feb’ 6th) of Yamaha’s new MT-09 SP, Mike checks in with five quick points about the wee barker!
Style
Before you even think about swinging a let over the new Yamaha MT-09 SP you will be stricken by the sexy MT-10 SP / YZF-R1M inspired ‘Silver Blu Carbon’ colour scheme – it’s gorgeous!
Ease
The CP3 engine offers usable power from tick-over upwards, while the quick-shifter and slipper-clutch helps smooth things out both up and down the box.
Electronics
As per the standard MT-09, the SP comes with two traction-control modes plus an ‘off’ setting and three power modes: 1, STD and 2, mode 1 being the most aggressive.
Adjustability
Kayaba forks and an Öhlins shock, developed specifically for the MT-09 SP, allows full adjustability so every rider can set their bike up to get the most out of every ride, whatever you’re up to.
Price
At £8,999 the trick-as-you-like SP is just £800 more than the standard ’09 bestseller, so if you like your bling, it might just be your ‘ting!
