Watch – Ducati ‘Race Of Champions’ Cut Short By Rain…

by

The highlight of this weekend’s bi-annual World Ducati Week – The Race Of Champions – was sadly cut short by rain, not that the missing two laps would have stopped Michelle Pirro from winning by the proverbial country mile, mind…

Featuring most of Ducati’s current MotoGP and WSB stars, the race was billed as the big draw. Chaz Davies couldn’t take part after breaking his collarbone while training, but Troy Bayliss had a crack. It was a shame they couldn’t talk some other ex champs into it mind you, like Carlos Checa and Neil Hodgson, but it was a stellar line up nonetheless.

Pirro may have walked it, but there was was great scrapping between Esteve Rabat, Xavi Fores, Jack Miller and Marco Melandri to keep the Ducatisti entertained. The factory GP lads kind of phoned it in a bit, as we expected them to, although old-man Bayliss (who’s currently racing in the Aussie SBK series) was making some nice moves before he ran off track. Falling rain cut the race short by a couple of laps, but it had been fun to watch.

It was a great idea that should only grow, maybe next time they should all be stuck on Diavels for fun! You can watch the highlights below this lovely pic of Pirro!
