OUR BRAVE boy, young Carl Stevens, is currently braappping his way round Italy on the new 2019 Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro. We dragged him away for a moment to get some first impressions on the new beast – here’s what he reckons to it so far.
“We’ve just been riding it off-road this morning dude – it’s really good! The whole thing is really flattering for your riding – the power modes work well, the torque is up 17 per cent, but the engine is still insanely smooth at the bottom end. I felt quite happy riding around a gear or two higher than you’d think possible.
“The new chassis geometry changes work really well – it feels easy at slow speeds and really well-balanced. The bike actually feels lighter, despite it being the same weight as before.
“Of course, being a modern Ducati, the electronic rider aids work really well. The Ducati traction control is amazingly effective and it doesn’t go insane over jumps like other, less smart setups. I’m not a big fan of the shifter with MX boots though – it’s not as responsive as I’d personally like.
“Lunchtime now, then we’re off for the road ride. Big skids is my prediction.”
So there you have it. More on the new Multistrada 1260 later – and we’ll have the full launch report in the next print issue of the magazine!
