Suzuki BSB stars thrash mini-gixxers to the limit

GSX-R125s have their collective cocks thrapped off in extra-curricular BSB kart-track race

Remember riding with your mates on your first bike? Mad wasn’t it? There’s something about a load of riders on small-bore bikes that makes it far more dangerous than riding big bikes. You see the same thing on 125cc press launches: everyone is on the same 15bhp machines, so the only margins come from late braking, demon cornering, fairing-bashing corner entry lines and other dastardly deeds.

So fair play to the Suzuki GB folks for sorting out this annual silly-season 125 race. The recipe is simple: get all the Suzuki-friendly BSB riders onto a small race track, with a stable of unsuspecting GSX-R125s, specially prepped for the race. This year’s illustrious venue was the kart circuit at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, where Buildbase Suzuki’s Bradley Ray, Luke Stapleford, and last year’s winner Richard Cooper were joined on the grid by OMG Racing Suzuki’s Billy McConnell and Josh Elliott. And to impose some order, three-time British Superbike champion John Reynolds was employed as race direction and black-flag wielder.

Who won this gentlemanly contest? Well, you’ll have to check out the video below to find out…
