Updated 1290 Super Duke R, new 890 Duke and 890 Duke R for 2020
TO MILAN, where the Matighofen Massive has been showing off its wares for next year. And juicy wares they are for sure.
First up was the 1290 Super Duke R, which has been well trailered online. It’s had a full-beans update, with new chassis, electronics and engine mods. Weight is down by 6kg to 189kg, and power is now 180bhp at 9,500rpm. The rider aids package gets a new six-axis IMU for more effective traction and wheelie control, and upgraded cornering ABS.
On the chassis front, there are new Brembo Stylema brake calipers and upgraded suspension with a new rear shock linkage and 48mm WP Apex forks up front. No official price as yet, but expect it to be around £17-18k.
If you like your thrills in a smaller package, then the new 890 Duke might be just the thing. Based on the current 790 Duke, the 890 gets, yes, more capacity and more power, up to 121bhp at 9,250rpm, thanks to a new 90.7mm bore and 68.8mm stroke. There is a fancier R version, with fully adjustable WP suspension and top-end Brembo brake calipers.
More on all of these (and saucy launch action) as soon as we get hold of ’em…
