Carbonio rims, forged alloy loveliness, baubles and jewellery galore for BM’s mighty superbike
WE’RE all stuck at home now, so a bit of fantasy online retail therapy won’t go amiss will it? And news reached us the other day of a new range of performance goodies from BMW. The firm is transferring the ‘M’ motorsports marque from its hot cars to the two wheel world, dumping the ‘HP’ moniker formerly used there. And when it launched the S1000RR last year, the Munich massive were also pushing an ‘M-Sport’ version, laden with all manner of extra goodies.
The bike itself has taken a while to hit showrooms, but they’re coming through now, and BMW is releasing this tranche of official bolt-ons too. There’s a hefty range, as you expect from that firm, but a few offerings stand out to us. The carbon bodywork is all very nice, and will give that saucy HP4 Race look, while maybe saving a few hundred grammes here and there. But it’s the more serious upgrades that we’re moist about – the range includes both natty forged aluminium wheels and proper emperor-spec, full carbon rims, as well as slick rearsets, remote-adjuster brake lever and folding clutch/brake levers. Yum.
No prices as yet – but if you’re shopping for an RR, we’d be hounding your dealer to have some of this trickery thrown into any PCP deal. Sexing up a new S1000RR, while keeping the economy afloat – you know it makes sense!!
