MotoGB are campaigning to raise funds for medical equipment for India copes with a deadly second wave of coronavirus cases.
India has seen more COVID-19 cases in the last week than any other country, with a second wave seeing the official death toll reach above 200,000 – though it is believed the number may be higher.
Now, with oxygen supplies running low, hospitals collapsing under pressure and a shortage of medical supplies, MotoGB are urging people to help where they can.
In a statement, MotoGB addressed their close relationship with India and trading partners over many years.
“We are working together with Ekam to help raise funds to go towards medical equipment such as Oxygen tanks, PPE, medicine and food supplies for those whose livelihood have been affected by the pandemic.
“We have spoken to the founding members of Ekam, which is mostly made up of doctors. Ekam works directly on the front line in India and will be working with us directly to ensure the funds are spent in areas that we feel will make the biggest difference.
“Our first thoughts are looking to supply much-needed beds and oxygen equipment. One other benefit to using the Ekam charity is that they give us complete clarity on where the funds will be spent, not only but they do their due diligence before buying equipment to ensure the funds donated bring the most value where it’s needed. Every expenditure will also be logged and documented.”
Every donation helps, big or small. If you can spare even just a few pounds, it will make a difference. You can donate on the MotoGB JustGiving page here, and if you would like to share the appeal on social media, visit the MotoGB Facebook page.
The MotoGB statement continues: “As a company, we will also be making our own sizeable contribution to this cause. Thank you for taking the time to read this message, and we really appreciate any support you can give us on this matter.”
