KIT: ‘Tyrian’ AA-rated motorcycle jeans from Roadskin

by

Having to deal with a 140-mile journey in 23-degree weather, I definitely had concerns about maintaining comfort during the ride. This was especially important since I planned to take a break from riding for a few hours in the middle. Of course, my safety and protection were also top priorities. That’s why I opted for the Roadskin ‘Tyrian’ AA-rated single-layer motorcycle jeans in a stylish stonewash blue, and it turned out to be a wise choice.

As you can see from the above photo, I’ve gone all matchy-matchy with the Roadskin Easyrider II AA-Rated armoured Hoodie, and jolly comfortable it all is.

The materials used in the construction of these jeans, a blend of CORDURA® Denim Fabric and Lycra, produce a superior softness to the touch and insane comfort as they stretch to your riding style. In terms of the ‘cut’ of these jeans, Roadskin says, “are tailored to be cuffed for a retro aesthetic reminiscent of 1950s Americana, adding a vintage flair to your riding gear”. What that means to you and me is they’re stylish and fit nicely over whatever boots you choose to wear.

Here’s the key features of the jeans:

  • CE AA-Rated Protection: Designed to meet rigorous safety standards, Tyrian Jeans offer protection on every ride.
  • Level 2 Knee and Hip Armour: Comes equipped with the armour as standard, giving you peace of mind as you tackle the roads.
  • Triple-Stitched Durability: All main seams are triple-stitched, reinforcing the jeans’ resilience and longevity.
  • Strategic Armour Pockets: Conveniently positioned hip and knee pockets ensure your armour stays in place, maximising protection.
  • Cool Mesh Lining: A light mesh lining keeps you cool during rides and adds a layer of skin tear protection.
  • Adjustable Length: With a well-thought-out shorter mesh lining, these jeans can be easily turned up for a custom fit.
  • Connections: Double belt loops for attaching top layers – e.g. our Easyrider II armoured hoodie
  • High-Quality Material Composition: It is made from a durable fabric blend of 75% CORDURA® Denim Fabric, with polyester, nylon, and Lycra for flexibility and comfort.

I find the Tyrian motorcycle jeans to be very light, soft and mega-comfy, on or off the bike. As it says in the spec. above, they come with armour as standard, for the hips and knees. The standard armour is somewhat ‘substantial’, but I’ve upgraded with Roadskin’s super-slim and light RHEON hip and knee armour (below).

It’s just shy of £40 but worth it. It’s also very easy to whip out if you want to, simply fish the hip armour out from their internal pockets. For the knee armour, I take off the jeans (in private!), turn ’em inside-out and whip that out, too. That said, you can keep the armour in all day and it doesn’t annoy. Here’s Roadskin’s sciency bit about the RHEON armour:

“RHEON™, a non-Newtonian material, exhibits a unique duality: it remains soft and flexible under normal conditions yet becomes rigid when exposed to force. This enables it to meet the most stringent impact protection criteria while maintaining exceptional softness, flexibility, and comfort”.

The Hoody, Jeans (both AA-rated) and upgraded armour come in at £340- not bad for an outfit that looks good, feels good and carries an AA rating. Go check Roadskin out!
